This study aims at identifying the effects of violence victimization experience of the people engaged in welfare facilities for the elderly on organizational commitment and analyzing mediating effects of self-esteem. The study results reveal that the violence victimization experiences of the workers working for the welfare facilities for the elderly had a negative effect on both organizational commitment(¥â=-.279, p<.001) and self-esteem(¥â =-.368, p<.001). In addition, the result of verifying the mediating effect of self-esteem between violence victimization experience and organizational commitment demonstrates that there was a partial mediating effect. In this regard, the alternatives of the policy and practical activities which can reduce or minimize the possibility of the violence victimization occurrence of people working in the elderly welfare facilities are as follows: First, the enactment of the social welfare worker safety law, the mandatory subscription to the social welfare worker accident insurance, related budget support, and policies for improving the physical environment and budget support are required as policy alternatives. In addition, the development and dissemination of risk management manuals, and the organization and operation of the organization`s own risk management committee are needed to be presented as practical alternatives.
